With fun times, comes great responsibility. These are some words I have learned over time and they seem to come in handy when it comes to a lot of different areas. The Holiday season that has now come upon has brought a lot of possibilities for us. One thing that it usually brings is also the possibility for lots of long term damage to our dental health. That is why I think that decisions made during this time can have a huge impact on your life. It may seem a little trivial to be talking about teeth so seriously, but they are a major part of your health system and can not only cause severe damage but can help you with your overall health. That is why it really important to take care to protect your teeth during the time of the year that you generally eat and drink more sweets than normal.
One thing you need to think about is protecting your teeth. This is usually a pretty easy thing to think about and to plan for but may be harder to do in practice. The truth is that brushing your teeth regularly during the holiday season is going to be the best plan for protecting your teeth. What I am getting at is that most Americans do not fall within the normal American Dental Associations’ recommendations for how much you should brush your teeth. They suggest that you brush your teeth twice a day. That does not seem like that hard of a task, but they also talk about the timing of brushing your teeth for two whole minutes. This turns out to be much more than what the average American actually does. The truth is that most Americans brush their teeth for only one time a day for around 30 Seconds.

The fact that our average brushing time is less than half of what we are expected to do it means we are in trouble. When you add on tons of sugar and acid to your daily diet for almost a month it can attack your mouth. Plaque causing sugar and acid start to erode your teeth away and if you are not protecting them through teh day by brushing them then you are in big trouble. This can not only lead to lots of medical expenses to fix the damage done, but some of it cannot ever go back.

The average human stops producing tooth enamel at a certain age and then you are only allowed to use and keep up what you have. So this is an important thing to take into consideration as you are moving through holiday parties and gatherings this year. The goal you should be making is how to protect your teeth during this time and the best start is to make a good brushing schedule.
It is ok to not be on the average brushing schedule. You can easily make one by setting alarms on your phone to keep you on track. This is an easy way to start making a habit through this season and then you will be on track for life. It usually takes thirty days to be in a habit and then you will be protecting your teeth for the long haul.
